Agreenculture expands its agronomic expertise with the acquisition of Chouette

Toulouse, France, June 23, 2026 – Agreenculture, a French company specializing in safety-certified autonomous solutions for agricultural machinery and tractors, today announced the acquisition of Chouette, a specialist in AI-powered agronomic analysis. The transaction brings together complementary areas of expertise and marks a significant step towards a new generation of agricultural machines capable of understanding and extracting value from their environment.

From navigation to terrain intelligence


For over a decade, Agreenculture has been developing solutions that enable equipment manufacturers to deploy safe, autonomous machines and tractors, fully operable without local supervision and compliant with European regulations. With the acquisition of Chouette, Agreenculture adds onboard agronomic analysis to its products. The goal: enabling machines to translate field observations into directly actionable crop management insights, covering vine health status, within-field variability, and early disease detection.

A Field-Proven Technology, Validated at Scale 


Chouette's solution relies on tractor-mounted sensors that capture high-resolution imagery directly in the field, providing granular visibility into vineyard conditions. Images are processed by algorithms combining artificial intelligence with agronomic models to detect powdery mildew, esca, missing vines, and track canopy vigor, georeferenced maps of vineyard health to support grower decision-making. 


To date, Chouette has processed more than 200 million images. This dataset constitutes a unique repository of parcel-level evolution over time, built across successive growing seasons and real-world field observations. It encompasses the diversity of grape varieties, terroirs, and weather conditions recorded over 11 vintages. In total, over 64,000 hectares have been analyzed across France, equivalent to nearly 8% of the country's total vineyard area.

This combination brings together complementary capabilities: machine autonomy and safety on one side; agronomic interpretation of field data on the other. R&D programs on both sides will be consolidated to progressively integrate these capabilities into a unified platform.


Looking ahead, equipment manufacturers will be able to rely on solutions capable not only of executing missions autonomously, but also of collecting agronomic data, producing localized analysis, and generating operational recommendations.

Development Outlook 


This transaction is part of Agreenculture's broader strategy to build an integrated platform covering both machine route management and parcel-level agronomic analysis. The combined industrial and technical strength of Agreenculture's 60-person team will accelerate active development programs — particularly around the detection of grapevine flavescence dorée, a critical phytosanitary challenge facing French viticulture — while paving the way for extending these technologies to other specialty crops such as orchards, and for their progressive integration into autonomous solutions offered to equipment manufacturers.


The overarching ambition is to address the sector's most pressing challenges: labor shortages, input cost pressure, farm economic performance, and environmental transition.
